AMERICAN RED CROSS CLASSES
Lifeguard Training (ages 15 and up)
This all-inclusive course teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies at swimming pool facilities. The course content and hands-on activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Participants will learn how to:
- identify behaviors of a swimmer, distressed swimmer, and an active or passive drowning victim
- understand the components of an emergency action plan and how to activate it
- understand the general procedures for an emergency occurring in the water or on land
- perform equipment-based rescues
- provide first aid and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies
- recognize and care for possible head, neck or back injuries
Participants MUST attend each session of a scheduled class in order to qualify for certification. No Refunds.
Prerequisites: Must meet minimum age of 15 before last day of class. Candidates must successfully complete swimming skills pre-test on the first day of class.
